I do not only use top stallions for breeding horses, but also give young stallions a chance if I believe in them and they have caught my eye positively. I try to breed horses and not to multiply them.

The Eibens farm, in Behrendorf - Schleswig-Holstein - has been owned by the Andresen family for many generations. Harald Andresen took over the family business from his father at the age of 19. Already at the age of 12 Harald Andresen was devoted to the Holsteiner horse. He successfully rode himself in numerous competitions in dressage and show jumping up to class M, until he suffered a severe knee injury in an accident at work, which forced him to give up performance-oriented competition riding.

However, as he carries the Holstein horse blood in him, Harald Andresen bought his first fillies in 1989, with an interesting pedigree for Holstein horse breeding. In 1999, the Eibens farm was converted from dairy farming to bull fattening and, in particular, to Holstein horse breeding.

Today there are more than 20 Holstein broodmares, some with very old mare lines in Harald Andresen's stable. „I'm trying to breed horses, not multiply them...„. That is the primary goal of Harald Andresen when you ask him about his horse breeding. When Harald stands in his stable and he talks about his horses and foals, you can immediately hear that he loves horses. Even after so many years of breeding horses, the birth of foals is still one of the most exciting and moving moments. Every birth of a new foal is a family event, where the whole family is present, and that is 7 people.

To the question why he breeds only Holsteiner horses, Harald answers: The whole world wants Holsteiner show jumpers, so why breed anything else, especially if you are a Holsteiner yourself?? He loves to spend hours browsing through the various stallion and horse auction catalogues to find the right pairing for his broodmares. Harald also gives Holstein young stallions a chance if they catch his eye.

To his most important broodmares belongs with certainty the Holstein mare Douglas (strain 18 A2) from Alcatraz / MV. Lord / MMV. Raimond. She is one of the fillies purchased in 1989, which laid the foundation for the Holsteiner horse breeding at Hof Eibens. This mare has given birth to first-class and exceptional foals, many of which are still successful in show jumping up to advanced (S) level and can be found in the finals of Bundeschampionats. This mare is now part of the family and many breeders have been interested in her, but she is not for sale.

Harald Andresen is also dedicated to equestrian sports outside of his own horse breeding. So he is among other things the 1. chairman of the Riding and driving club Obere Arlau in Behrendorf, in which he is very involved and which organizes every year in spring one of the first big tournaments, the Nospa Dressage Classics, in the north of Schleswig-Holstein. Furthermore Harald is delegate of the Holsteiner Verband in the basket district Nordfriesland, which organizes every year the horse sale days in Nordfriesland, as well as mare tests, the stallion selection for the licensing, foal races and foal championships in the district.
