The Holstein Association

The horse breeding association for Holsteiner horses - Holsteiner Verband

The official website of the Holsteiner Verband with information on the breeding concept, the stallion distribution plan and an overview of breeding dates as well as news from breeding and sport can be found at http://www.holsteiner-verband.de/.

The Association of Breeders of the Holstein Horse, or in short Holstein association has its headquarters in Elmshorn. The task of the Holsteiner Verband is to arouse general interest in the Holsteiner horse and to promote the breeding, keeping and marketing of the Holsteiner horse through advice and action. The area of activity of the association is divided into the core breeding area and the extended breeding area. The core breeding area of the Holsteiner Verband covers the state of Schleswig-Holstein as well as the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in its area north of the river Elbe. It is divided into eleven basket districts and the expanded breeding area (foreign countries), namely

  • North Frisia basket district
The Eibens farm also belongs to this district. With almost 500 members, the Nordfriesland district is the largest basket district in the Holsteiner Verband. At the moment, the Körbezirk Nordfriesland is working on a new concept for its own homepage. Until this is created, I would like to refer to the homepage of the young breeders of the Holstein horse in North Frisia: http://www.jungzuechternf.de/
  • Dithmarschen basket district
  • Bordesholm basket district
  • Basket district Ostholstein
  • Pinneberg basket district
  • Plön basket district
  • Rendsburg-Eckernförde basket district
  • Schleswig-Flensburg basket district
  • Segeberg basket district
  • Steinburg basket district
  • Stormarn-Lauenburg basket district
  • (Hamburg)
Hamburg is not an independent basket district. A basket district has not been formed in the area of the Hamburg state territory; the breeders resident here can be accepted as members in the respective neighbouring basket districts.
  • Extended breeding area
The extended breeding area forms a basket district. The extended breeding area covers the rest of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as the following EU member states Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and the rest of the world, as far as breeders have their residence/registered office there, who guarantee a proper breeding operation according to the requirements of the German Animal Breeding Act and are members.
